UNDERWARD is a horror game that you can play alone or with up to four players. In this game you and your team are investigators. Your mission is to carry strange monsters called “TEST-SUBJECT” from an old, abandoned underground hospital. But there’s a deep mystery hiding in the darkness. Can you survive and uncover the truth.
You can also play the game alone, but be warned—it is extremely difficult. If an enemy catches you, the game is over instantly. You will have to go through many failures to learn how to survive. Since you are alone, you won’t be able to carry the TEST-SUBJECT as fast as a team. You must move carefully, avoid making noise and always watch out for enemy attack’s. This mode is terrifying and will push your survival skill’s to the limit.
To complete your mission, you need to find a TEST-SUBJECT and carry it to the elevator. Once you exit the elevator, you must explore the floor and look for your target. But be careful—traps and dangers are everywhere. Some doors and puzzles need teamwork to unlock, so going alone is risky. You might also find useful tools left behind in the hospital. As you search you may encounter terrifying enemies. These creatures are drawn to noise so staying quiet is the best way to avoid them. If you stay hidden, they might walk past without noticing you. But if they spot you, don’t hesitate—run as fast as you can! Throw objects at them to slow them down. Sometimes that small distraction can save your life’s.
If one of your teammates gets caught, there is still hope. Their location will appear on your screen, so act fast and rescue them before it’s too late. The longer you take the harder it will be to save them. A strong team works together and keeps each other alive, but every second counts.
Once you find a TEST-SUBJECT, you must carry it to the elevator. Carrying it makes a lot of noise, which attracts enemies. If you are playing alone, moving the capsule will be slow and dangerous. But if you have teammates, you can use the “Connected Carry” system to move faster than the enemies can chase you. However, if your teamwork fails, you might all end up dead. Each TEST-SUBJECT has a different value, so your goal is to retrieve the most important one. Once you meet the recovery quota, you must close the elevator door and verify the TEST-SUBJECTS. After that the elevator will take you deeper where even greater dangers await.
