Mercenaries Lament is a strategy RPG’s set in a fantasy world. Battles happen on maps with different heights, where your character’s position—whether attacking from the front, back, or side—can decide the fight. Placing your allies wisely will give you extra advantages making battles more strategic. You also have full control over how to develop your character’s. You can unlock and upgrade skill’s and even switch classes by using skill points earned in fights.
When Amalie, the main heroine, is in your team, a special gauge fills up in the top right corner. Once full, you earn 1 BP (you can store up to 9 BP). By spending BP, characters enter “Advent Soul” mode, making them stronger for a short time. In this mode, they can perform powerful “Advent Attacks” with teammates and use their ultimate moves called “Soul Exceed” skills.
If a character in Advent mode stands in a position where they can trap an enemy between themselves and an ally, they can unleash a special attack when using normal or skill-based attacks. Characters in Advent mode can also use their “Soul Exceed” skills at any time. These ultimate moves are unique to each character and can do things like cause huge damage to enemies or heal and remove negative effect’s from allies. However, using Soul Exceed will end the Advent mode. Knowing when to use these powerful skill’s is the key to winning battles.
Throughout the story, you will find special “Orbs” hidden in different locations and from certain enemies. There are 13 Orbs in total, and you can check your progress on a special screen. What happens when you collect them all? Only time will tell’s.
A few years ago, a strange and deadly disease spread across the land. Those who caught it had no cure, and when they died, they turned into zombies that attacked the living. Now, mercenaries are often hired to clear out the undead.
