Small Wars: Mohicans is a strategy game set during the French and Indian War in the mid-18th century. This war was a big moment in history especially leading up to the British conquest of Quebec in 1760 which helped shape modern Canada.
In the game, you control either the British or the French forces as they fight for control over northeastern North America. The British have a bigger army and stronger firepower but the French have better mobility and strong Indigenous allies. The Iroquois Confederacy plays a key role too. They are neutral at first, but if you win enough battles, individual tribes might join your side, giving you a big advantage.
Your goal depend’s on the side you pick. The British win by capturing three key French cities, including either Montreal or Quebec, by 1760. On the other hand, the French can win by holding key British cities like Albany, New York, Boston, or Philadelphia. The battles are diverse with skirmishes in forests raids on towns ambushes and sieges of forts. Between battles, during the winter, you can gather reinforcements, train militias, muster Indigenous warriors, and build forts to prepare for the next season.
The game map includes over 100 locations from Virginia to eastern Canada, allowing you to fight on land and at sea. At sea you can use warships to protect supply routes and bring reinforcements from Europe. There are many strategies to try from ambushes to building forts and launching naval invasions.
You can play alone against AI or with a friend, either locally with two controllers or online through multiplayer. The game supports PC Steam Deck and handheld device’s and it also has full controller support.
